Vicks UV 99.999% Germ Free Humidifier Vicks UV 99.999% Germ Free Humidifier

Reviews

I checked Reviews Before purchase,I purchased Two. Disappointed with noisy performance. If you are a lite sleeper this is not for the bedroom. Other locations would be fine.

I wasn't sure about a heat mist humidifier. I have a cool mist and the maintenance is minimal. The Vicks humidifier does a great job in increasing the humidity, much better than the cool mist. It takes a little more maintenance however it is worth the effort.

I purchased two of these humidfiers with the aim that they would be quieter than normal. When you first turn them on they are quiet until it begins to heat the water. Sounds like a boiling pot of water on the stove. I wouldn't suggest putting this in a bedroom if constant noises bother you at night. The germ free feature is outstanding and both units have been working non-stop for several months, requiring refilling everyday. Refill containers are light and easy to carry. The only drawback is that they drip if you overfill the container from a groove at the top of the container that catches a bit of the overflow. When you turn the container upright, it pours out in a stream until the groove is empty. Best to turn upside down and wipe before carrying over wood floors.

This is a great humidifier. Warm, puts out a lot of humidity, easy to clean. Despite the recomendations, I only clean ours once a week and so far have not experienced any problems. I clean it with vinegar and a plastic scrubby pad b/c we have high TDS water. Works great. We use this humidifier every night for about 12 hours a night (my daughter is a great sleeper) and have owned it for about three months. Worth the money!

Thank you, Amazon, for providing a forum for consumer reviews. Thanks to the wealth of reviews of various humidifiers, I was armed with information about what to expect or what is desirable. I had no idea my sinus problems, even after surgery, were so exacerbated by dry air. I chose the Vicks UV 99.999% Germ Free Humidifier as a middle ground product and could not be more pleased. Since my sinus problem is so bad, I run it all the time so the dual water containers means the refilling task consumes less time. Yes, the light is bright. Yes, it's a bit noisy. Yes, it hard to clean. But it does the job so well, those are minor inconveniences.

Rabbit Air BioGS HEPA filter w/ Flu Prevention for (models SPA-421A & SPA-582A) Rabbit Air BioGS HEPA filter w/ Flu Prevention for (models SPA-421A & SPA-582A)

I am very pleased with my Rabbit. I had severe coughing episodes before I decided to give it a try. It has helped me with that problem, and I have recommended it to a friend.

Have used a rabbit air for several years and it keeps dust, dander, and allergens out of the air. Works great for those of you non-smokers who are living with someone who does smoke, or if you smoke and want to clean the air in your space.

I've had other types of air cleaners - Ionic Breeze, etc. - but Rabbitair is the best. It tells you how clean your air is and is quiet and relatively maintenance free (just vacuum the hepa filter and rinse the charcoal one every couple of months or so & replace about every 18 months). The filters are a bit expensive, but they only need to be replaced about every 18 months. Best of all, the Rabbitair gets the air in my apartment noticably cleaner faster than any of the other units I've tried.

This item was a direct OEM replacement to the filter that came with my unit. There was NO discrepancies between this one and the original. Aside from the obvious shipping materials (which were ample): The packaging for this product is minimal: only a purple bag around it. No pointless extra box or other materials you just end up throwing away. The purple bag is "PE rated for recycling. My last filter lasted 3 years, which is 18 months longer than suggested. How I knew it was time to change out the filter was that the unit began to suck air around the filter instead of through it. I would recommend NOT going quite this long, maybe 24 months. I did, however, vacuum the filter every month or so with a good HEPA rated vacuum. This will prolong the life of your filter to 24 months, depending on your environment.

Ordered extras with an SPA-582A, glad that they come sealed in plastic. Wish Amazon offered bundles of HEPA + carbon for these as is done for the SPA-700A & SPA-780A..

Ok... ok... ok... I know there are lots of you (like me) that are skeptical about a ~$300 product that claims to make the air in your environment smell and feel cleaner but is it actually effective? I purchased the Rabbit Air 421A in Silver back in November 2009 direct from the manufacturer. The purchase was made solely off of the Amazon reviews I read and other external websites that seemed to have nothing but glowing impressions of this fancy little box. I have spent the last several years fighting off a continued sinus infection that had gotten so bad that when I would wake up in the morning I would find myself coughing up LITERALLY coughing up mucus and phlegm. When I came home from work in the dusk I could see millions of little particles floating around in the beams of light coming in from the windows. I knew it was time to find a solution. Introducing - the Rabbit Air BioGS 421A - God's gift to the dirty air world. I felt like a kid at Christmas I was so giddy when the box arrived. Did I mention this box was giant? I really underestimated the size of this thing, but it's okay because the bigger the unit the more air it is able to clean. So I unpackaged the big boy and within 5 minutes I had the thing running. Installation was literally removing all of the bags from everything and then plugging in the charcoal filter, HEPA filter, and pre-filter, then replacing the plastic front cover and plugging it in. The unit is big but light enough to carry with one hand. Night 1 - I swore it was the best sleep I had ever gotten and I woke up feeling clear and able to breathe, although my significant other swears that it's all subliminal. By the end of the first week I was no longer hacking up pieces of my own lung. The automatic sensor(s) are so smart that I can throw a chicken on the stovetop in the kitchen and ~60 seconds later the unit kicks into high gear. Sometimes when the cat walks by the Rabbit Air whirs into full speed and scares the heck out of him (not necessarily a pro for some people but for me it is!). I catch myself doing certain things in the apartment and then mindlessly staring at the front indicator lights on my Rabbit Air to see how it feels about my actions. I was hesitant to post a positive review until I really knew if the unit worked. After 3 months of non-stop use (daytime - auto mode, nighttime - fan speed 3 mode) the unit finally beeped at me this morning to "clean filters." So I popped the front of the unit off (no screws, it just pops off!) and I didn't know whether or not to be excited or disgusted. The pre-filter was COVERED in dust, hair, big particles - it took me a solid 2 minutes to pull off of the dust off with the vacuum. Behind the pre-filter the HEPA filter also needed a quick pass and the charcoal filter was fine as is. After looking at all of the dust and dirt and pet hair (think if you opened your lint trap on your dryer) I knew the purchase was more than worth it to keep all that crap out of my air. My only complaint? That I didn't buy two to keep myself from lugging it around the apartment from room-to-room.

This thing is pricey, but it really works. I keep it in my cat's litter box room and I can't smell a thing. I haven't had to clean the filter yet, but even if it is difficult it'll be worth it because it works so well.

Do not buy this product. My husband and I bought this going off what others reviews read. We dont feel that the odor sensor worked at all, nor did it clean the air. We kept it for two weeks thinking that it just needed more time to clean the air. Didnt work. The odor still stayed in the house, and it did no more than suck air in and blow the same air back out through the top. Very expensive to purchase, very expensive to return. Very dissappointed. Returned to company, and then purchased an Oreck. Couldn't be happier with our Oreck purchase.

Given the reviews below, I purchased the Rabbit Air with great optimism but have been completely disappointed. The unit has delivered no change in air quality, and in fact often fails to notice a scent as strong as a match being light and extinguished directly in front of the sensor. With regard to observations by other users - I did not find the noise disturbing, and in fact it offered a good "white noise" background for sleeping. The display, however, is exceedingly bright and cannot be adjusted; I ended up taping a post card over it so as not to illuminate the room. Obviously I wasn't looking for a $330 noise maker and nightlight, so I will be returning the item. What's particularly disappointing (and not disclosed elsewhere, as far as I can tell) is that Rabbit Air is charging me $35 for return shipping on this worthless device. I would give 0 stars if Amazon offered that option; I would strongly encourage you to look elsewhere.

Aside from some cosmetic issues -- the badge on the front face of the unit is a sticker that was loose (and somewhat folded and therefore will remain loose) -- this unit has been everything I expected. It is extremely quiet and sensitive -- When I walk past it after coming out of the bathroom in the morning, it senses my cologne and immediately kicks in. The true test will be when my asthmatic girlfriend returns and can judge the air quality in our smallish apartment.

Reviews

This filter was so well priced I should of bought 2 or 3. its a great unit to bring great tasting water right at your kitchen sink.

I purchased and installed this unit, and I'm really disappointed by the taste of the resulting water. The manufacturer's description (and several reviews) make it sound like this unit will dramatically improve the taste of tap water, so that it is comparable to bottled water. That's simply not the case. After installing our filter and flushing it for a while, we did a blind taste test of tap water, Zuvo filtered water, and some generic bottled water from Trader Joe's. It was really easy to identify the bottled water (as it was the only one that tasted good). Our tap water here in southern California does not taste good -- it has a strong chlorine flavor and generally just tastes weird. The Zuvo filter improved it a little bit, but certainly not enough to call it drinkable. I'd say it was comparable to (or worse than) water produced by one of those Brita or Pur pitcher filters. Now, the UV light must be nice for killing any microorganisms in the water, but it doesn't do anything for the taste. All the bubbles in the water didn't seem to make a difference either. I just don't see the point of using an expensive water filter that doesn't improve the taste of the water. The unit operated OK, but you need to know that the UV light shines through the part that looks like stainless steel, so every time you use the filtered water, you will get what looks like a black light shining in your kitchen. (We were planning to mount this under the counter to avoid that.) As other reviewers have noted, the water dribbles to a slow stop instead of shutting off immediately. Also, don't forget that you need to have a power outlet nearby, because this filter has to be plugged in for the UV light to work.

I've had the Zuvo Water Purator for almost 4 months. I bought it as an Amazon lightening deal and also purchased the 'butler' so that I could mount it under the sink (where an existing soap dispenser lived). Even as a woman, with no plumbing experience I had it installed and running in under an hour. All of my family and guests either notice the difference and comment on how great the water tastes or don't notice it at all. I think this is the ultimate compliment for Zuvo. Mechanically, the device works well and I am definitely saving money on bottled water. Also, I no longer have to deal with a nasty water filter pitcher that is constantly growing mold and in need of a good deal of my limited counter-space. The only thing I can say negative toward my Zuvo is that the water flow is not like turning on the tap at full force. But it's not like the slow drip of a filter pitcher either. All in all, I wouldn't trade my Zuvo for any other water filtration product on the market.

To all the haters, get a grip! Of course there are shill reviews here, and everywhere else. That doesn't mean EVERY review is suspect! I bought this as a present for my parents. They seem to like it, and it's a lot more convenient than the pitcher-type filter system they were thinking of buying. The Good: - Looks nice. If you have to have it sitting on the counter, it's not butt-ugly like so many "gadgets" out there. - Filters out bad tasting chemicals. - Claims to kill germs, but without independent test results, I'm always skeptical of those types of claims. - Replacement filters are cheaper per gallon than the pitcher-type filters. The Bad: - Pricey. I got it as a Gold Box special, but even then thought twice about it. - Hose gets in the way. They should include tie straps and protective grommet, so that you can secure the hose to the faucet neck. That's what I ended up doing for my parents. - Slight delay in getting water after turning it on. It's just the nature of the design. It shuts off automatically when the water is shut off, so it needs a few seconds to switch back on and circulate the water. Not a huge deal. - Limited on/off cycle life. They recommend that you use this to fill up a large jug or something, rather than turning it on/off for one glass of water at a time.

I was spending $300 per month on bottled water, and I'm so picky, it was Evian for drinking, and cheaper water only for boiling pasta. I've lived in Manhattan for eleven years, and tried a number methods to get good drinking water. I've lived in other cities, including Boston, Washington, D.C., Chicago, and San Francisco. In those places I used faucet mounted filters of various brands, with reasonable aesthetic results, needing to change the filter every three months as it became clogged. In New York City, the filters clogged after a couple weeks. I soon resorted to pitcher filters, but found the flavor and longevity were not good. I also felt uneasy about the pitcher and faucet mounted filters in that they held stagnant water for a long time, leaving open the possibility of microbial growth. The Zuvo eliminates that possibility by means of ultraviolet light, which keeps shining half a minute after the filter is shut off. Further, the Zuvo carbon filter survives more than two months of NYC water before a replacement is needed. That means I spend about $12 per month on drinking water. It's easy to install: screw it onto the faucet, plug it in, and that's it. At first, I had assumed I would want to buy the under-sink installation kit. After hooking it up, I found this unnecessary for me. It looks nice on the counter, takes up very little space, the hose does not get in the way, and frankly, I like to look at the diffused (protected) blue light and the bubbles. But most important for me: the water tastes great. It tastes better than almost any bottled or filtered water. Friends and guests have commented on the good flavor, even if I they had not seen the filter or heard me mention it.

We bought this Item, because we know UV-C works. The Pocket Purifier works well, is compact & even has a little flashlight built-in. We also purchased another one for a family member. Thanks!

I bought one long ago at a very high price. The bulb eventually burned out and it seemed impossible to find a reasonably priced replacement UVC bulb. Years later, this came back and was down to $14 in Pink. First: The pink in not that 'pink' and if anyone is thinking about it looking like a woman's product ... don't worry, it looks reddish and you won't be using it in front of people. GO BY PRICE: IF the Black or Pink is cheaper at the time you purchase this, buy the cheaper one and don't worry about the color. NOW - This is just my personal opinion and why I LOVE THIS DEVICE! I have terrible allergies and if I use it on my bed pillows before I go to sleep, I swear (although it could be just psychological) there is a dramatic reduction in the itchy feeling from whatever dust mite/allergen that there may be. When I don't use it, I seem to be swatting my face and scratching my eyes a lot and wake up much more congested. PROBLEM: THE LIGHT IS DANGEROUS (UVC) AND I REMOVE THE PROTECTIVE CAP PUT IT UNDER/ON THE PILLOW AND TURN IT ON AND LEAVE THE ROOM FOR A FEW MINUTES. I DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH EXPOSURE I AM GETTING, BUT WORSE IS WHEN I SET IT UP AND FORGET ABOUT IT. IT STAYS ON UNTIL THE BATTERIES RUN OUT .... MEANING DEFINITELY NEED TO USE 4 RECHARABLE AA - BUT IT IS ALSO THE CAUSE OF MY BULBS ALWAYS BURNING OUT PREMATURELY. I ALSO USE IT INFRONT OF MY WINDOW AIR CONDITIONER, LEAVING IT FOR A FEW MINUTES DURING ALLERGY SEASON (PROPPING IT UP SO THE LIGHT ENTERS THE VENT AREA WHERE THE COLD AIR COME OUT) AND IT SEEMS TO REDUCE ALLERGY PROBLEMS INDOOR. I also sometimes put them inside my gym shoes to kill any sweat bacteria from a hard workout that might cause odor/stinky shoes. Mostly neurotic uses, but I think to some degree, it has really been a major part of my allergy control program. As for sterilizing, I assume it works, but without any way to known for sure, I prefer to use an alcohol swab to disinfect in public. They are super cheap, small and much easier than lugging this thing around. (the kind for medical needle swabs - 100 for like $1.99 in any pharmacy/drug store).

This UV sanitizer seems like such a great idea - I immediately used it on my remote controls, computer/laptop keyboards & other electronics around the house. I wipe those things off, but hesitate to use a moist spray disinfectant on them. Now maybe we all won't share the cold & flu this winter as in the last few years. It is a little bulky, that's the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars...still a very good price compared to the one that flips open. ~~~~~Well, it must be working! We have not shared any cold/flu bugs this winter and it is almost spring now.~~~~~

We have a well over a pasture and it gets contaminated. We discovered that some of our intestinal problems were related to Giardia and Chryptosporidia. Boiling and distilling water took a lot of time and energy - very costly. I didn't like the idea of whole house UV because you have to leave it on all the time. We don't have room for the chlorine drip tank system. This small, inexpensive, easy to install system in combination with some poly carb tanks has given us biologically safe water to drink without having to haul it from the store. Also store bought water come in plastic that has to be recycled and can be contaminated with bisphenol-a. We turn this system on only once or twice a week to fill up the drinking water containers. I learned that turning on/off the bulbs substracts 6hrs. from the bulb life. But if you only turn it on once of twice a week, you still extend the bulb life. This product has been a great solution for us.

This was very easy to install and seems to be working very well. Our only concern was the marked difference in the cost of this product versus more expensive models. Water flow is great.

I have looked for an economically priced all in one unit that has a UV stage. This unit is made in USA and is very easy to install. Quality parts and craftsmanship. I researched this manufacturer before I purchased and was quite satisfied. I recommend it to anyone.

Honeywell HHT-145 HepaClean UV Antibacterial HEPA Tower 3-in-1 Air Purifier Honeywell HHT-145 HepaClean UV Antibacterial HEPA Tower 3-in-1 Air Purifier

This is an excellent purifier for home use. It reduces odor and dust in your house. At low fan speed, it is really quite. Value for the money.

I bought the HHT-145 about a year ago and always loved the unit - my allergies are very severe which includes my face and throat swelling. About eight months ago, my husband unplugged the unit and it stopped working and I never got it to come back on. I was about to throw it out and decided to try some things again. I took the air filters out and noticed a small button behind the top air filter. I noticed that when I put the top filter back in, it did not sit flush with the button, causing it to still protrude out. So I decided to tape the button as close to the unit as I could. I replaced the filters and after not working for eight months it came on! That's the only reason I rated this a five, otherwise I was going to rate it a 1. The unit really lessened my allergy symptoms and I'm on an EpiPen because of them.

I just received mine yesterday and had it set up in less than 5 minutes. I'm using it in my basement office to get rid of smoke and dog odors. I ran the unit overnight with everything turned on, and it smells great this morning! I also like the fact that it kills allergens, and other negative particulates. So far so good. :)

This was given to me as a gift. It worked great for three days. Then I decided to move it into the bedroom. Turned it off, unplugged it, moved it to the bedroom, plugged it in....can NOT turn it on again. Have tried plugging it into every electrical outlet in the apartment--nada. The power light will blink a few times and then that's it. Called the company like the box instructed (specifically told to call if there are problems rather than returning the air cleaner to the store). Customer service was stumped after telling me to check to be sure the filters were in place, that the back grill was in place, and that I'd pushed the power button. She told me to bring it back to the store. Well, it was a gift, the store and the receipt are both over 500 miles away and this just sucks all around. Will never choose Honeywell again.

I use this product in the bedroom. It freshens the air that my wife breathes in. She has chest cold and I decided to use UV antibacterial. It helped placebo or for-real it worked for her chest cold to go away. I let it on at 3 or 6 of 12 level setting of power 24 hours 7 days. So far electricity bill isn't any different than before and air is really fresh.

Unfortunately, the product worked intermittently for the first week or so then it stopped working altogether. Don't know if this was typical of this product or just with the one I received. Al Krapf

This is a great item to have now that the swine flu is so prevalent in NYC. I have not yet used it on the subway, but have used it on supermarket cart handle, computer keyboard, work telephone and my remote controls. It is very compact and looks just like a cell phone. I will be using it on the silverware next time I dine out.

Excellent for supermarket trolley handles, public doorhandles, knobs and etc. Very handy compact size.

The Zadro is small and folds closed like a small flip cell phone. It can easily fit in a pocket or your purse. The Zadro only has one button that you press and hold for about 10 seconds. The purple light will come on along with a Red LCD light to let you know that it's working. All you need to do is simply hold the light over an object like a phone, toilet seat, keyboard, etc for 10 seconds and the unit is supposed to kill all of the germs. Unfortuately, since I'm not a scientist, I really cannot tell if germs are being killed.

Rabbit Air provides solutions for families concerned about their health and quality of life. A Los Angeles based company that plays a revolutionary role in the air purification industry, Rabbit Air manufactures environmentally friendly products with design in mind...

Air purifier, also commonly referred to as air cleaner, are electronic devices. The goal of these electronic devices is to clean the air. This is done by eliminating harmful air contaminants. Air contaminant is another word that is used to describe air particles. No matter what they are called, they could be harmful to your health or to those who visit your home. That is why it is recommended that all homes have an air purifier in them. In fact, in addition to be recommended, some homeowners are actually urged to have an air purifier for their home.

If you are wondering why someone would be urged to have an air purifier in their home, you may be wondering who those individuals are and just who it is that is doing the urging. Well, the truth is that there are a fairly large number of individuals who are urged to have air purifiers. These individuals may be those who have pets or who have in-house smokers. It has been said, and actually proven in multiple studies, that pets and cigarette smoke causes unhealthy air particles to form. With an air purifier, those particles will either be completely eliminated or reduced.

In addition to those who have a house with pets or a cigarette smoker, it is also advised that those with allergies purchase an air purifier for their home. Air purifiers work to eliminate common dust particles, which is a common cause for allergies. As previously mentioned, air purifiers are also recommended for those with pets. In addition to keeping your home’s air clean, an air purifier may also help to reduce an allergic reaction to pets or pet hair.

Although it is important to know who can benefit from an air purifier, you may also be wondering exactly how they work. With air purifiers, you will find that different purifiers work in different ways. This is because many air purifiers are produced by different manufacturers. Each of those manufacturers is likely to develop their own product in their own way. Despite these differences, there are a number of different air purifiers that use ionizers and filters. These filters often filter out harmful air purifiers by preventing them to pass through the system. Essentially, this means that only safe, clean, and breathable air is allowed to pass through.

If you make the decision to purchase an air purifier or cleaner, and with all of the benefits there is a good chance that you will, you are advised to shop carefully. You will find that many air purifiers claim to be the best, but very few are. Although you may wish to purchase a low-cost air purifier, you are advised to be cautious when doing so. Many cheaper air purifiers are low-performing and the high-performing ones may need to have their filters replaced every few months. If this is the case, you will want to check the cost of replacement filters; in some cases the filters may end up costing more than the machine originally did.
