Vicks UV 99.999% Germ Free HumidifierReviewsThis humidifier is actually being used at a local animal shelter in one of their isolation rooms. The cats in that room are all sick. It helps them breath better & it seems they are getting better just a little faster. This is an excellent humidifier. It has one added advantage - two smaller than usual reservoirs make it easier to refill for those of us who are getting more seasoned - older that is. The product is as described. It puts out quite a bit of steam which I need living in Las Vegas because it is so dry here. It helps my breathing and gives my skin moisture. It's a great product. I love the two tanks and the ease of use. Last month I purchased another unit that ran out of water in the middle of the night. This one does NOT have that problem. Even on the highest setting it's running about a day and a half! Beautiful. The 'on' light is way too bright but a piece of black tape fixed that. You can't see any light from the germ light (that's good). It does it's germ killing on the water before it hits the hot plate. I'm not sure how needed this is considering it's generating steam but 'perhaps' (I don't really know) it may reduce the gunk amount in the cleanup. It came with 3 mineral pads that simply lay on a hot plate (use just 1 pad). Note they are the 'small' round pads. I see two sizes on Amazon. No other light comes from the unit. Gurgling isn't as bad as some other units I've tried but there is no way around a bit of gurgling. The TWO water side tanks can both be filled or just one. Lifting one tank off the unit while the other is full causes NO problems, water doesn't gush out. It is big so check the size. The only 'cons' are the way too bright on light (easy fix, tape) and when empty the plastic tanks can easily fall while moving the unit. They don't 'lock' in place and are quite light when empty. I haven't tried a lower steam setting but there is a constantly variable control for steam (not just low and high). So far I love the unit and I let it run all night! I could not understand why my electric bill was as high this winter as they were during last summer when I used my central A/C. When I unplugged the humidifier, my bill dropped right back in line. It costs about $40-$50 a month to run it here on Cape Cod. Average Rating:![]() |

Surround Air XJ-3800 Intelli-Pro Air PurifierReviewsi bought this with the hopes of clearing the bedroom air of allergens that keep my nose constantly clogged up. this unit did not help my allergies but it does take odors out of the air and is very quiet. I really like this machine. I have been running it for a few weeks. It runs so quietly. It detects odors before I can and starts cleaning the air. I think this was a good purchase. This filter is quiet and efficient. I was concerned about the reviews that mentioned how loud the unit was. I find it very quiet. Set on auto it stays on quiet mode. When it detects an odor or poor air quality it kicks up the power, usually only to low or medium, handles the problem air quality and then kicks right back down to quiet mode. (I'm going to try and use a paucity of words but be informative. LOL !) MY PROBLEM: Six year Granddaughter's eyes would begin to burn after her being here 1-2 hours. My eyes also burned some. I have three dogs and (my steel trap mind) immediately suspected pet dander. MY SOLUTION: I have a small entry foyer with a doggie door through the storm door leading outside and a doggie door through the main door into my home. I bought a Surround Air S3500 for that small area because that unit moves about twice as much air (CFM) as the XJ3800 and will capture heavier contaminantes such as pet hair. The higher (CFM) air movement of the S3500 creates more noise but I don't care as that noise is outside earshot. SURROUND AIR XJ3800.....put the XJ3800 in the den where most (waking) time is spent. That unit is quiet - except on highest fan speed - cause that unit is not moving a lot of air. Also has all the other needed filters/filtration plus the HEPA. VACUUM CLEANER: Also switched to a HEPA bag in the vac. MY RESULTS: Granddaughter's eyes no longer burn. My eyes no longer burn. Success. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Comments: 1. To clean air two things are a 'must' 1) HEPA filter....2) ability to move air through the filter. Moving air makes noise. Moving a lot of air makes a lot of noise. (Remember boys and girls, there ain't no free lunch.) Additional filters/lights certainly help with various problems but it all starts with the HEPA. 2. Despite marketing claims to the contrary, these portable air purifiers are for ONE ROOM. (Just like window air conditioners are for one room.) 3) Most manufacturer square footage claims are exaggerated. Reduce square footage certainly by one-third and by one-half to be sure. 4. CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate) numbers are suspect. Stick with square footage. You want to cycle (clean) the air in the room 5-6 times per hour. Get your room measurement - length and width PLUS ceiling height - and call/email the manufacturer/vendor with that info and have them calculate the needed CFM. In the past I've used just about every kind of air purifier that exists, and with varying costs and effectiveness, but this one just rocks my socks! It cleans everything, and I mean E.V.E.R.Y.T.H.I.N.G! Dust? Not anymore. Odors? Gone. Pollen? Not a single sneeze or watery eye. This truly is the best air purifier on the market hands down. Trust me, I've done the research not to mention have practical experience with other air purifiers. I definitely recommend this to everyone. My only complaint is with the shipping - the box was all bashed up, and it looked like it was taped by a monkey! The machine had several scuff marks and a black dust all over it and inside of it, but after cleaning it off and following the Manual instructions (of running it constantly for 8 hours and then unplugging it without turning it off so as to reset the sensors and make them more sensitive) everything worked perfectly. Not a single problem with the machine, and a persistent odor that I could never seem to get rid of was completely GONE in about 36 hours of running on high. My apartment has air vent registers in the floor of each room and for some reason dust and allergens come through it from my neighbors apartments but after putting in vent register filters and running this machine it's like living in a completely different apartment! (oh and I have a cat too, and there is no kitty litter/cat poopies smell at all) Average Rating:![]() |

Surround Air XJ-3000 Spare FilterReviewsThis is the replacement filter for the surround air. After I had spent months doing research on different air filtration systems, I did not just look at infomercials. I decided on surround air because it had 5 levels if purification and sanitizing. It was not super expensive. It had a longer warrenty than most. And a very important detail is that it was not expensive to maintain changing filters and such, it turns out to be about $2.50 a month. That seems a fair price to pay for waking with a clear nose and no headache. Any air filtration system is only as good as the filters it uses. If your system takes these filters, you have about the best of the best for allergens, dander and smoke removal short of the condensing units used for commercial purposes. I think it might even do better than those smoke eaters in bars. The ion sanitation will really change the air in your place in less than an hour. I can't recommend this filter enough, my first one is still working perfectly 6 months later at 2 hours a day use. Very good system received the 3 units 3 years ago - just hate the cost of the filters but good price on amazon. I really don't have much to say about a filter replacement. As these things go, this one is very good. It's sturdy and easy to use. It holds up well and lasts as long as the manufacturer says, even in a household with pets. The size makes it easy to store too. They aren't cheap, but I don't have to buy them too often, and it's worth it for the level of air quality they produce. The filters for this machine work really well. The machine itself is quiet, and deoderizes a small room within minutes. Average Rating:![]() |

Germ Guardian GG-1000 UV-C Air SanitizerReviewsI learned a few weeks ago that I had a rodent infestation in my house. They'd gotten in (apparently) through the cat door, and been living under the stove and refrigerator, and had slipped from there into a space beneath some cupboards. They were amazingly quiet... I had no idea they were in the house, and my cat didn't either (not that she would likely have cared, she was a very elderly, sleepy cat.) Anyway, a few weeks ago I started smelling something unpleasant in the kitchen. The smell would come and go. I cleaned the usual surfaces but it came back. I finally looked under the stove and was appalled to see a mountain of mouse droppings. Then the smell really hit, as, apparently, one of them died somewhere in the walls of the house. It hit during a heat wave, exploded throughout the house, and almost drove me out of the house. Locating their "nest" and cleaning up the droppings helped, but not totally. There was still a bad residual smell in the kitchen, which would sometimes drift into the rest of the house. It was bad enough, on hot or humid days, to make me want to go outside. I finally went to the local Fred Meyer and found the germguardian GG10000 on sale, and decided on impulse to buy three of them, for the living room, kitchen and my home office, three rooms where I spend a lot of time. That was last night. Today, 13 or 14 hours later, I can say that they have helped. The air is breathable. No trace so far today of the bad smell I've been living with for over three weeks. Also my allergies feel a little better, my breathing clearer than usual. So they must be doing something. I'm not sure if the change is totally due to the germguardian, because after installing them, I did one more scrubdown of the areas in the kitchen where the mice had been hanging out. But so far so good. I'm glad I bought the product. The one thing I have a dispute with is the advertisement that they are "whisper quiet." I expected an essentially silent product, but they're not. As others have commented, there's a constant (low level) white noise from the fan. I don't mind it too much, it's way better than the smell. It's not an unpleasant sound, just constant, like a steady soft fan. I suppose the sound could get irritating after a while. But right now I'm just happy they got rid of the horrific dead rodent/residual mouse droppings/residual mouse urine smell. I'm feeling better about the house and can start having friends over again. Glad so far that I bought the Germguardian(s). Apart from that, I can say I like the design of the product, it looks cool and high tech. Works just like it said. The fan noise does not bother me. It does not give off any fumes like the other air sterilizer I tried. i'm still on the fence w/ this product, but the husband likes it. we bought it while on stay-cation in a stinky condo. too noisy for the bedroom. did not work on the foul odors in there, but we brought it home anyway because it was affordable, and we wanted to give it a fair chance. we keep it near the stairs (kind of below them) by a bathroom, the 'pantry' and the back door. the musty, funky, moldy smell is GONE from there now, and it gives a nice light to the dark walkway, but i hear it when i'm nearby and it is annoying. a high-pitched hum... My husband has lung problems and I only clean with vinegar (it may smell for a short time but it does not hurt his lungs like chemicals do). Traveling with him is a challenge since most hotels use very harsh chemicals to clean. This is very helpful to eliminate alot of the irritants. We check in, plug it into the wall and leave to do some sight seeing; by the time we return he can be in the room without difficulty. But be careful because it does not do well if you drop it (my fault I had to replace it). It also gets rid of the dog smell (he likes to lay on our bed and pass gas) that accumulates in our room. Well, I have only owned this for a day so I can't report on it's proficiency.I'm not using it to reduce odor from a litter box or diaper pail. I just bought it to reduce germs in the air, so how do I know it's working? I've been skeptic for a while, but I spotted one at Babies R Us today for only $12.98. That's the best price I've seen, so I figured I'd give it a try. Average Rating:![]() |

Purely Products 5004P-P Hand Held Pocket Purifier, PinkReviewsWe bought this Item, because we know UV-C works. The Pocket Purifier works well, is compact & even has a little flashlight built-in. We also purchased another one for a family member. Thanks! I bought one long ago at a very high price. The bulb eventually burned out and it seemed impossible to find a reasonably priced replacement UVC bulb. Years later, this came back and was down to $14 in Pink. First: The pink in not that 'pink' and if anyone is thinking about it looking like a woman's product ... don't worry, it looks reddish and you won't be using it in front of people. GO BY PRICE: IF the Black or Pink is cheaper at the time you purchase this, buy the cheaper one and don't worry about the color. NOW - This is just my personal opinion and why I LOVE THIS DEVICE! I have terrible allergies and if I use it on my bed pillows before I go to sleep, I swear (although it could be just psychological) there is a dramatic reduction in the itchy feeling from whatever dust mite/allergen that there may be. When I don't use it, I seem to be swatting my face and scratching my eyes a lot and wake up much more congested. PROBLEM: THE LIGHT IS DANGEROUS (UVC) AND I REMOVE THE PROTECTIVE CAP PUT IT UNDER/ON THE PILLOW AND TURN IT ON AND LEAVE THE ROOM FOR A FEW MINUTES. I DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH EXPOSURE I AM GETTING, BUT WORSE IS WHEN I SET IT UP AND FORGET ABOUT IT. IT STAYS ON UNTIL THE BATTERIES RUN OUT .... MEANING DEFINITELY NEED TO USE 4 RECHARABLE AA - BUT IT IS ALSO THE CAUSE OF MY BULBS ALWAYS BURNING OUT PREMATURELY. I ALSO USE IT INFRONT OF MY WINDOW AIR CONDITIONER, LEAVING IT FOR A FEW MINUTES DURING ALLERGY SEASON (PROPPING IT UP SO THE LIGHT ENTERS THE VENT AREA WHERE THE COLD AIR COME OUT) AND IT SEEMS TO REDUCE ALLERGY PROBLEMS INDOOR. I also sometimes put them inside my gym shoes to kill any sweat bacteria from a hard workout that might cause odor/stinky shoes. Mostly neurotic uses, but I think to some degree, it has really been a major part of my allergy control program. As for sterilizing, I assume it works, but without any way to known for sure, I prefer to use an alcohol swab to disinfect in public. They are super cheap, small and much easier than lugging this thing around. (the kind for medical needle swabs - 100 for like $1.99 in any pharmacy/drug store). This UV sanitizer seems like such a great idea - I immediately used it on my remote controls, computer/laptop keyboards & other electronics around the house. I wipe those things off, but hesitate to use a moist spray disinfectant on them. Now maybe we all won't share the cold & flu this winter as in the last few years. It is a little bulky, that's the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars...still a very good price compared to the one that flips open. ~~~~~Well, it must be working! We have not shared any cold/flu bugs this winter and it is almost spring now.~~~~~ Average Rating:![]() |

Honeywell HHT-145 HepaClean UV Antibacterial HEPA Tower 3-in-1 Air PurifierReviewsI bought this purifier at Target because it was the most expensive one there so I figured it would work. After a week, it started making rattling noises on the low settings. The unit is very quiet but compared to other units I don't believe it moves very much air. It is cool looking but I doubt it's as functional as some of the other Honeywell Purifiers. The purifier also says HEPA clean, not true HEPA. So basically you're paying because the unit looks cool with nice lights. Don't buy it. After only an hour started to make the cyclic motor noise as others have stated. I returned and the second unit did the same. Its a great concept but poor design. This is an excellent purifier for home use. It reduces odor and dust in your house. At low fan speed, it is really quite. Value for the money. I bought the HHT-145 about a year ago and always loved the unit - my allergies are very severe which includes my face and throat swelling. About eight months ago, my husband unplugged the unit and it stopped working and I never got it to come back on. I was about to throw it out and decided to try some things again. I took the air filters out and noticed a small button behind the top air filter. I noticed that when I put the top filter back in, it did not sit flush with the button, causing it to still protrude out. So I decided to tape the button as close to the unit as I could. I replaced the filters and after not working for eight months it came on! That's the only reason I rated this a five, otherwise I was going to rate it a 1. The unit really lessened my allergy symptoms and I'm on an EpiPen because of them. I just received mine yesterday and had it set up in less than 5 minutes. I'm using it in my basement office to get rid of smoke and dog odors. I ran the unit overnight with everything turned on, and it smells great this morning! I also like the fact that it kills allergens, and other negative particulates. So far so good. :) Average Rating:![]() |

The XJ-2100UV Most Effective Way to Destroy Harmful Micro-Organisms. No air purification technology is more effective than a germicidal UV lamp when it comes to destroying germs, viruses, bacteria and fungi (such as mold), which can lead to illness.ReviewsThis product is not as powerful as was hoped. There is some clearing of the air but not enough. The ionizer is a very efficient product, which gets the job done for smaller applications and at a good price. Based on my research, this particular product meets the needs of anyone looking to have cleaner (more purified) air in smaller spaces such as a bedroom, etc. It runs on a small supply of electricity and is easy to clean. No complaints here. Average Rating:![]() |

3Q ELECTROSTATIC AIR PURIFIER WITH UV & CHARCOAL FILTER, IONIC CLEANER AP04SReviewsThe 3Q air purifiers have a lot going for them: - electrostatic collector rod to get the dust (generates small quantities of ozone) - charcoal filter to eliminate odors - UV lamp to kill germs - blue light night lamp - 2 levels of operation - easy to take apart and clean - well built - good price when compared with equivalent products In fact, when compared to Sharper Image's Ionic Breeze, you get this for about half the price of the higher end product. Of course, the 3Q's are a lot smaller than the more expensive item but, still, you do get more for less with the 3Q. The only issue I have with the 3Q's operation so far is the relatively loud fan noise when compared to the Ionic Breeze which runs without a fan. It's not VERY loud but you can hear it. One note on the 3-year warranty: forget about it. You are expected to send over the defective item at your own expense AND enclose a $20 check for it to be shipped back to you after it's fixed so, if the 3Q ever breaks you're probably better off buying a new one. Overall rating - it's a positive 4-star. Be aware that, if you need 2 of these, 2-pack bundles are available from other vendors. Average Rating:![]() |

This 3 in 1 air purifier combines electrostatic, UV and Carbon Filter three functions air cleaning technologies in one compact device with a BEAUTIFUL BLUE NIGHT LIGHT. The benefits are obvious: It does a better job cleaning your air, costs less than several stand-alone devices, takes up less space, and uses less energy than separate units... |
Air purifier, also commonly referred to as air cleaner, are electronic devices. The goal of these electronic devices is to clean the air. This is done by eliminating harmful air contaminants. Air contaminant is another word that is used to describe air particles. No matter what they are called, they could be harmful to your health or to those who visit your home. That is why it is recommended that all homes have an air purifier in them. In fact, in addition to be recommended, some homeowners are actually urged to have an air purifier for their home.
If you are wondering why someone would be urged to have an air purifier in their home, you may be wondering who those individuals are and just who it is that is doing the urging. Well, the truth is that there are a fairly large number of individuals who are urged to have air purifiers. These individuals may be those who have pets or who have in-house smokers. It has been said, and actually proven in multiple studies, that pets and cigarette smoke causes unhealthy air particles to form. With an air purifier, those particles will either be completely eliminated or reduced.
In addition to those who have a house with pets or a cigarette smoker, it is also advised that those with allergies purchase an air purifier for their home. Air purifiers work to eliminate common dust particles, which is a common cause for allergies. As previously mentioned, air purifiers are also recommended for those with pets. In addition to keeping your home’s air clean, an air purifier may also help to reduce an allergic reaction to pets or pet hair.
Although it is important to know who can benefit from an air purifier, you may also be wondering exactly how they work. With air purifiers, you will find that different purifiers work in different ways. This is because many air purifiers are produced by different manufacturers. Each of those manufacturers is likely to develop their own product in their own way. Despite these differences, there are a number of different air purifiers that use ionizers and filters. These filters often filter out harmful air purifiers by preventing them to pass through the system. Essentially, this means that only safe, clean, and breathable air is allowed to pass through.
If you make the decision to purchase an air purifier or cleaner, and with all of the benefits there is a good chance that you will, you are advised to shop carefully. You will find that many air purifiers claim to be the best, but very few are. Although you may wish to purchase a low-cost air purifier, you are advised to be cautious when doing so. Many cheaper air purifiers are low-performing and the high-performing ones may need to have their filters replaced every few months. If this is the case, you will want to check the cost of replacement filters; in some cases the filters may end up costing more than the machine originally did.
